Presbyterian Women's Purpose
Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit,
we commit ourselves:
- to nurture our faith through prayer and bible study
- to support the mission of the church worldwide
- to work for justice and peace, and
- to build an inclusive, caring community of women
that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (USA)
and witness to the promise of God's kingdom
Bible Study
THE CUP OF LIFE
During the retreat in November, we experienced the book. The Cup of Life
by Joyce Rupp. On Wednesday, January 10, at 7:30 a.m., we will continue the
study of this book in the church library. Jerie Artz will guide us in the
study, which will occur weekly through the second Wednesday in February.
Participants can be women who attended the retreat or any other woman
interested in joining this fellowship. Jerie has books for those who do not
yet have copies. The cost is $12 for the book. If you are interested, contact

Presbyterian Women's Activities
Here we are, the Presbyterian Women
revised. We hope, on these pages, to keep you informed of varies activities
and options for women in First United Presbyterian Church. Information about
women's activities will be posted on the church bulletin board, in the
Presenter, and in the church bulletin. In addition, we will have a WOMAN'S
MINISTRIES table at the coffee once a month. On the table will be information
about upcoming programs, canisters to collect money for various projects we
are supporting, and other materials or information relevant to women in this
church.
The Presbytery PW Winter Gathering was held
at Imperial/Rock Presbyterian Church on Saturday, January 27,2007. The theme
was
"Creation! Celebration! Together in Service" with emphasis on various mission
projects. More information will be available when the Linkletter comes out.
Linkletter is the news letter from the Presbytery PW. A copy of
the Linkletter can be found on the church bulletin board.
Presbyterian Women sponsors and staffs the Presbyterian
Thrift Shop, which normally has a sale on the fourth Wednesday of each month
from 9 to 11 a.m. and on the Tuesday before that Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m.
Thrift shop workers come each Monday morning to sort and price donated items.
Volunteers from several churches help us. More volunteers, both men and women,
are always welcome. Income from the Thrift Shop goes to many missions.
In addition to funds earned at
the Thrift Shop we also take up special offerings for
various projects. Our Birthday Offerings and the PW Thank Offering support
projects selected each year by PW world wide. Contributions to Heifer
International, Leprosy (AIDS), and Two cents a meal, are collected at the
Sunday coffee. In the
past year PW made contributions totaling over $8000 to various missions
including CAMA, the Presbyterian Church
Mission Fund, 3 domestic violence shelters, Marion Medical Mission, The Grain
Bank, Global Outreach, The Thank Offering, Church Women United, Uni-Pres Kindercottage,
Meals on Wheels, our own church and it's youth program.
